DWS Audio is delighted to announce that our recent audio drama serial ‘Enquiry Agents’ was included in the World Showcase at this year’s UK International Audio Drama Festival. Held in Canterbury last week our drama is now available to listen to online over the next month at Radio Drama Festival Listeners are encouraged to vote for their favourite play in the Audience Award category. A resounding round of applause for our talented KS3 Art Club! They’ve masterfully brought to life their own crow sculptures, each a testament to their dedication and the captivating inspiration of Joe Lawrence’s Black Corvids. This was not an easy task and all students demonstrated fantastic resilience, problem solving, creativity and skill. Well done! The crows are now on display in our entrance foyer near to Reception.
During the February half-term break, the Drama Department ran the biannual Drama Tour to Paris. Thank you to all the staff involved for making this trip possible and for all giving up their time to take 50 students on this excursion packed trip. Students at Darrick Wood School delivered an exceptional performance of Brain Play last night, demonstrating remarkable focus, energy, and stage presence. With over 45 minutes on stage and little to no opportunity to step off, the entire cast rose to the challenge with professionalism and confidence. Their efforts were met with high praise from the National Connections Director, who commended their performance and provided valuable insights on how to elevate key moments even further. On Friday, 31st January 2025, DWS Dance Company attended the London Youth Games Dance Competition at Langley Park Centre for Performing Arts. There were schools from across the borough competing in either the KS3 or KS4/mixed competition. Darrick Wood performed a piece called ‘The Fallen.’ The dance explores a group of young soldiers as they journey through the physical challenge and depths of the trenches. This week we were treated to four performances of this year’s School Production – ‘The Little Mermaid.’ On Tuesday, we had Years 5 and 6 from Darrick Wood Junior School come and watch a matinee performance. They were all very excited before, and even more excited afterwards! They had an amazing time and were very complementary of our cast.
