Year 10 Medical Day

Last term a group of 15 year 10 pupils attended a Medical Day at Bromley College, along with pupils from two other Bromley Schools. They had the opportunity to take part in hands on practical workshops. In one workshop the pupils were provided with patient histories, laboratory results and X-rays to diagnose patients. On Monday, 18th April 2016 over 70 Darrick Wood pupils collected both bronze and gold awards at the annual Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Ceremony in the Civic Centre, Bromley. Darrick Wood School wins awards for exceptional 2015 results

Darrick Wood School has been nationally recognised for its exceptional 2015 performance by the Schools, Students and Teachers network (SSAT). Educational Outcomes data analysis from SSAT has shown that the school is in the top 10% of non-selective schools nationally for high average grades achieved by students and the top 20% nationally for progress made by pupils between their key stage 2 results at primary school and their key stage 4 results. On Thursday, April 14th, Year 13 Government and Politics groups were engaged in a political discussion with a group of US high school students from Kenston High School in Ohio. This year’s Jack Petchey’s Speak Out Challenge produced some superb public speaking from Darrick Wood’s Year 9 and Year 10 pupils. Every year Darrick Wood School participates in the scheme, which aims to instil in pupils the skills, confidence and desire to speak in public through workshops run by the Speakers Trust and funded by the Jack Petchey Foundation.
