Our English Department manages the School’s entries into the annual Poetry By Heart (PBH) National Competition which has featured in prior newsletters. The most recent PBH newsletter featured our Year 7 Portable Paradise Project, which tasked students with creating their own paradise in physical, not just poetic, form in response to a poem in our anthology. Thank you to Olivia in Year 7, who spoke so well in assembly about the amazing Dance show that took place recently and then showed a film of all the dance images that were captured. The evening was a great success and Olivia reminded us of that through her speech. It was widely agreed that this year’s Summer Concert was the best ever. Well done to all involved and we look forward to seeing how the Music Department continues to go…

This week This week’s assemblies began with Vlad sharing his inspirational story of how he came to the UK showing great courage and resilience at the time, qualities he then utilised hugely in helping those of us fortunate not to have had to leave their home to have greater understanding of the impact this can have on a young person. It was an emotional listen but we all felt better informed and able to fully understand why we were marking…

Assembly round-upLast week’s assemblies started with a performance from students from our Deaf centre. Their version of ‘This is Me’ from The Greatest Showman was truly amazing. Thank you to Maryam, Evie-May, Asma and Stanley. The assembly’s theme was Money Matters. Students were given a quick history of money and how its value changes over time. They then considered the evidence of how qualifications lead to better access to higher paid employment and finally, we evaluated our own personal attitude…

This week Assemblies in this first week of the summer term were themed around life being a journey. Life can be more enriching and enjoyable when we challenge ourselves do different things. We looked at the extreme challenges overcome by Jasmin Paris (first woman to complete the Barkley Marathons in USA) and Russ Cook, who recently completed a run from the south of Africa to the north (10,000miles!). These were very inspiring, but our adventures through life do not need…

Latest news Last week’s assemblies started with a fascinating account from Marcus and Shubhan of the Year 11 trip before Christmas to Cologne, Germany. The long journey was more than made up for by what Cologne had to offer and they ensured we all wished we had had the chance to go. In an assembly led predominantly by students, we then heard from some of our amazing eco representatives across all year groups – Aerin, Chelsea, Shreya, Scott, Shubhan, Olivia,…
