This week This week we celebrated British Science Week. The theme this year is smashing stereotypes. Science is such a varied sector and much more than the societal stereotype of someone in a lab coat and goggles, swirling a conical flask. In the main school assembly we highlighted the importance of science for every one of us. This week Assemblies this week have been themed around Black History Month. The assembly was prepared and led by students and Mr Guest, Head of History and Politics. It started with a recording of students performing Benjamin Zephaniah’s Melting Pot, acted out in one of our Food Tech classrooms. Many students were involved in researching the assembly’s focus and were able to share the achievements of black women in particular. This week Assemblies this week have focused on how we relate to our neighbours. This has been considered within different contexts. We reflected on the meaning of the Hindu festival of Makar Sankranti, which takes place this Sunday. We also considered how getting to know our neighbours, always aiming to be kind to others and going out of our way to help them leads to a better life for all. Language Competition

Language Competition

On 21st March 2018, six of our Year 9 pupils travelled to Southend for a languages competition in which they had to perform a short dialogue (some of which they had written themselves) with excellent pronunciation, expression in their voices and high accuracy.
