Six Year 12 and 13 students from Darrick Wood attended the Particle Physics Masterclass at University College London. They were treated to a crash course in fundamental particles and then had to use this knowledge to analyse data from the Atlas detector. Year 12 Geographers Investigate Dorset

Year 12 Geography students recently visited Dorset for a four-day fieldwork trip. On the first day, they visited the town of Boscombe, where they completed fieldwork judging the success of rebranding. They also investigated the need for further regeneration in the town centre. On the second day, the students visited the town of Lyme Regis, where they examined how local, organic food, celebrity chefs and the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site had been used to attract visitors to the area….

Year 10 Work Experience 2016

Our Year 10 Work Experience Programme takes place this year on Monday 11th – Friday 15th July 2016. Pupils are asked to find their own work placements with employers. We support pupils by giving them advice and guidance on finding a placement. Once the deadline for finding a placement has passed, we try to place pupils using a bank of placements that we build up from previous providers. This month, the Darrick Wood Youth Travel Ambassadors pitched to a Bromley panel in order to secure funding for their walk to school campaign. The Darrick Wood team completed a group presentation, which outlined their plans and produced a budget on how much the carefully thought-out ideas would cost.
