The music department took delivery of a beautiful new baby grand piano this week. Many of our students are talented pianists. A large number of them have piano lessons both in and out of school. “It’s all for you” – Othello Re-imagined

On Wednesday 19th April, ten Year 13 students studying A2 Literature visited the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse Theatre for a production of set text, Shakespeare’s Othello. As befitting Shakespearean Tragedy, the performance was not without controversy. The setting, part of the superb Globe Theatre complex, was highly authentic; the entire performance in this very small and intense theatrical space was lit only by candles, as it would have been in Jacobean times when Othello was first performed. Wizard of Oz – The School Production

Tickets for this year’s production of “The Wizard of Oz” are on sale from today.  They cost £5 for adults and £3 for concessions and can be purchased from pupil reception (before school and at lunch time).  The performance will take place on Wednesday 8th and Thursday 9th February at 7.30pm in the Main Hall. On Tuesday 17th January 8YM enjoyed a workshop and performance by John and Elisa Harborne as part of their study and performance of Brazilian Music. John grew up in Orpington and rose to fame as one of our most eminent trombonists as a member of the jazz Orchestra ‘Loose Tubes’.
