We heard some excellent speeches from everyone\ndemonstrating belief in the School&#8217;s values and ideas for how the candidates would\nserve their school in the remainder of their time on roll. The next stage is a\nvote and then finally interviews with the Head Teacher and senior leaders in\nthe School. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Assemblies this week\nprovided a fantastic taste of the entertainment to look forward to when the our\nproduction of Beauty and the Beast takes place on Tuesday, Wednesday and\nThursday evenings next week. Please see\nthe website for details or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketsource.co.uk\/darrick-wood-secondary-school\">click here.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It has also been\nanti-bullying week and in assemblies latest national statistics on bullying\nwere given and pupils encouraged to reflect on all our roles in reducing\nbullying and encouraging respect for all. Like last year the national campaign\nfocused particularly on online or cyberbullying. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.anti-bullyingalliance.org.uk\/anti-bullying-week\/anti-bullying-week-2019-change-starts-us\">Antibullying\nAlliance<\/a> focus is <strong>Change Starts With Us<\/strong>.\nForm Tutors have copies of resources to encourage awareness and ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Year 13 parents&#8217;\nevening saw our first trial of Bromcom&#8217;s online parents&#8217; evening booking\nsystem. Attendance increased on last year, an indication that overall our\nobjective was achieved but there some technical glitches which we have learnt\nfrom and will smooth out in time for the next parents&#8217; evening. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the evening some excellent resources for parents were made available. These included ideas for days out to support academic achievement and subject specific parent tips. Now this has been\ndecided we plan to publish the full term dates on the website soon. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Class Charts issue<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A few days ago we\ndiscovered an issue with Class Charts. Some negative points were being recorded\nas positive. From the checks we have run this appears to have been resolved but\nyou might want to log in to see if your child&#8217;s record is now displaying correctly.\nWe apologise for any confusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A reminder about detentions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Where a teacher sets\nan after school detention for 20 minutes or less this can be completed without\nnotice to their parent\/carer and completed on the same day. Notice of 24 hours\nwill be given to parents\/carers for detentions longer than this. It is the responsibility\nof the pupil to ensure their detention is completed on the day and time set by\ntheir teacher, otherwise they risk a more severe sanction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Student Planners<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will be pleased\nto hear that we have ordered some more robust student planners. These will be\ndistributed to all students when we receive them. Homework is recorded\nelectronically in Bromcom but planners can still be used for making notes and\nfor communication with home\/school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PSFA news<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Christmas Ball\nis on the evening of Saturday, 7th December in the Main Hall from 7pm until\nmidnight.
