This week<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We welcomed everyone back, hopefully refreshed from the two week half-term break. Over the break we had a burst water main to contend with at the top of our drive. We had no water at all in school and it took a long time to be fixed but thankfully all was well by Monday morning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our assemblies this week have been Remembrance Assemblies. We will also hold a minute’s silence on Monday, 11th November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Thursday, Year 11\nstudents and their parents attended our Sixth Form Open Evening along with many\nfrom other schools looking to secure a place in our Sixth Form next September.\nIt was a very busy night with lots of positive feedback. Now begins the process\nof choosing which subjects to take. The online application form is available on\nour website (Sixth Form area) and applications close on 13th December 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As if the burst water main over the half-term break was not enough to challenge us, late on Thursday we discovered that a tree which overhangs the entrance to the Year 8 playground had become diseased and was in danger of falling. We had to close the playground until Friday when a team of tree surgeons was able to remove the tree. All was well by lunchtime and Year 8 could again use their playground in safety.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teaching Information Event<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bromley Schools’\nCollegiate, an outstanding provider of initial teacher training, is holding a\nrecruitment event at Ravens Wood School on Tuesday, 12th November, 4-6pm. The\nBSC has partner schools across SE London and includes Darrick Wood. In fact, many\nof our staff were trained through BSC programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Student Planners<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will be pleased\nto hear that we have ordered some more robust student planners. These will be\ndistributed to all students when we receive them. Homework is recorded\nelectronically in Bromcom but planners can still be used for making notes and\nfor communication with home\/school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tickets are selling\nfast for our production of Beauty and the Beast. To purchase tickets, please\nsee our website. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

PSFA news<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Christmas Ball\nis on the evening of Saturday, 7th December in the Main Hall from 7pm until\nmidnight. Tickets include a three course meal and live music. Click\nhere<\/a> for further information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tickets to see\nCinderella at the Churchill Theatre can be obtained at a much reduced price via\nthe PSFA website<\/a>\nhere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
