They reminded students and staff of the progress the School has made in trying to create a more sustainable school, the changes we can still make as individuals and the importance of continuing to do better when it comes to looking after our planet. They spoke with clarity and passion about this and we are very grateful to them for the assemblies and their hard work so far. Anyone wishing to get involved more should join the group, led by Miss Tibbs at lunchtimes on Fridays.

Pathways 2019 was
held in multiple venues across the School on Thursday evening and saw the best
attendance ever at such an event at the School despite the best efforts of the
weather to put everyone off.

This was the most
ambitious of our Pathways/careers events yet and despite one or two technical
issues there was lots of positive feedback on the night and since. It was great
to see so many of our students from Years 9 to 13 considering their future career
paths and discussing what is available with representatives from a wide variety
of employers, universities and further education colleges as well as finding
out about apprenticeships.

Electronic booking for parents’ evenings

An email has been
sent today concerning arrangements for the Year 13 Parents’ Evening to be held
on Wednesday, 13th November between 5 and 8pm. Appointments will, for the first
time, be made through Bromcom and not using our traditional paper based method.
If this goes well our plan is to roll this out to other year groups later this
year. Parents of Year 13 should check their inboxes and follow the instructions
in the document that was attached to the email.

Sixth Form 2020

Our annual open evening for pupils in Year 11 to find out about the courses on offer in the Sixth Form will be held on Thursday, 7th November between 7pm and 9pm. The application form will be available online from 9am the next day. All of our current Year 11 pupils and their parents are encouraged to attend and we anticipate a busy night with munch interest from students currently in other schools. There will be speeches in the Hall by the Head Teacher at 7pm and repeated at 8pm. Lovibonds Avenue has been particularly problematic this term, mostly as a result of cars parked illegally near the School and others blocking driveways or using the School entrance in which to turn around. This creates potentially dangerous situations for our children. It also means access to all three schools along Lovibonds Avenue could be blocked should emergency vehicles be required to attend urgently.

An email has been sent today reminding parents/carers of the importance of school attendance and procedures regarding requests for leave of absence.

This week Assemblies this week were taken by student members of the School’s Environmental Green Group (EGG for short).
