Public examinations<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main public\nexamination session has started this week. Students in Years 11 and 13 will\nhave public examinations from now until the third week of June.  Students are reminded of the importance of\nchecking their examination timetable carefully and ensuring that they are\npresent at the correct time and with the correct equipment.  Year 11 students continuing into Year 12 next\nyear have two days of orientation on Thursday, 27th and Friday, 28th June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nut awareness<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wanted to take\nthis opportunity to remind parents\/carers that, due to the risk of an allergic\nreaction, pupils and Sixth Form students should not bring nuts or peanuts in as\npart of a packed lunch. Please speak to your child about why, even if they are\nnot allergic to these foods, we all have to be nut aware so that the risk to\nthose that are allergic is minimised as far as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Environment matters<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Assemblies this week\nhave been led by a group of environmentally concerned students who highlighted\nthe need for all members of the School to prioritise environmental matters. The\nEnvironmental Green Group (EGG for short) have already had an impact on the\nschool environment. They have led the way in ensuring there are new paper\nrecycling bins in all classrooms and offices. They also highlighted the need\nfor more water fountains so that reusable bottles can be filled instead of\nrelying on single use plastic bottles. These are now installed and we would\nlike to encourage everyone to bring a reusable bottle in from now on. They have\nlots of further exciting plans including a school garden. We will share more\nnews on all this in due course, but for now the Head Teacher would like to\nthank these students for all they have already helped us achieve. Their\nassembly was truly inspiring. Thank you also to Miss Tibbs for her work with\nthe students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Arts Award Year 9 news<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pupils in Year 9\nthis year have had the opportunity to complete the Arts Award Bronze which has\nrequired additional work both inside and outside the classroom.  Mrs Iddiols-Bunclark and the Drama Department\nhave led this initiative which has seen 133 pupils submit work which the\nexaminers viewed this week.  We are\npleased to say that all pupils passed which is a fantastic achievement and the\nexaminers were very complimentary of the work completed and the pupils who they\ninterviewed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parents – look out for your homework!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a short while we\nwill be setting some homework for parents. Don’t worry, it won’t be too\ndifficult or take up too much time. In fact, we think you will enjoy it. Look\nout for more news on this soon \u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Library<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As well as using\n‘fobs’ to purchase food in the Dining Hall, pupils will also now need to use\ntheir fobs to take out books from the Main School Library. There is an\nexcellent selection of both fiction and non-fiction books to read so do please\nencourage your son or daughter to take out a new reading book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The half term\nholiday is from Monday, 27th May – school will finish at the usual time of\n3.10pm on Friday, 24th May<\/p>\n\n\n\n
