Half-term<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We come to the end of the first half term and whilst it has been hard work and not without issues, I think we can say it has largely been very successful here at Darrick Wood with the aim of re-opening the School to all students for the first time since the lockdown being achieved and sustained. I draw your attention to the Head Teacher update email today which outline some changes we will put in place for after the half-term, particularly relating to the beginning and end of the School day. We will also be writing to parents during the half-term to confirm any changes to our policy on face coverings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We wish all our students and staff a well-deserved break and look forward to seeing them when the term resumes on Monday, 2nd November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

D&T practical lessons<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The D&T Faculty would like parents and pupils to be aware that we will be resuming the practical elements of our curriculum on returning from the October half-term break.  In line with guidance from the Department for Education and our advisory bodies, and in addition to our already high Health & Safety standards, there will be increased cleaning of shared equipment and many resources have been split into year group \u2018bubbles\u2019 to avoid cross contamination.  We will be sharing our expectations with pupils in the coming lessons regarding the normal H&S procedures, and ensuring that they understand the new measures also in place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a change to previous years, we will not be providing aprons to be worn in lessons due to COVID restrictions; therefore, we ask that parents provide a suitable plain colour fabric apron to be brought into School for D&T lessons.  This can be an old shirt big enough to cover their School uniform, and that will not restrict movement during practical activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Equality and Diversity<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Over this October, we have celebrated Black History Month. Over the half-term holiday, students are encouraged to re-visit the Equality and Diversity resources from our focus week last year, found at https:\/\/news.darrickwood.co.uk<\/a> and see if there are any activities that they would like to take part in.\u00a0 If they complete any of the activities, they can email them to equalityweek@darrickwood.bromley.sch.uk<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PSFA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last week’s Parent Bulletin contained information about the new PSFA Committee. The Committee will meet on Monday, 9th November and all parents\/carers are welcome. Information on how to attend the meeting, which will be held virtually, will be sent in due course.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Police Cadets<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The police have asked use to share with you the opportunity for students to attend Police Cadets. Please see the flyer below for further information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
