The Year 8 pupils took on a range of hands-on activities testing reaction time, modelling tornadoes and the vacuum chair. They also got to see the reflecting and refracting telescopes \u2013 some even got to have the dome opened and spun around. The team challenges were interesting as there was no teacher involvement: pupils had to build a bridge, cross it and then dismantle it to see which team could get the fastest time. They also had to build the tallest freestanding tower with a set number of foam blocks. Some teams gambled and it toppled whilst others were above 2.5 metres. Pupils loved the outdoor hands-on activities with the water, discovery park and some even made friends with some very large fish. There was a three-way tie for the winning team in 8Y but just one outright winner for 8X.
